there is a huge variance in the price of gimbals and the price is a solid reflection of the quality you can expect. There are many high end gimbals but also many affordable gimbals as well.

Do they work with GoPro and other non-DSLR cameras?

Many steadicams are built with DSLR cameras in mind however, there are a few models that are specifically made for GoPros and phones as well as smaller digital cameras too. In my opinion they will just take a bit longer to balance and use with ease.

There are also some steadicams that support a variety of cameras including action cameras and digital cameras. Check through the stabilizer you prefer and see if your camera is compatible with it.

What weights does it come with?

As per my tips for balancing your steadicam, I mentioned adjusting the weights and the location of them. Stabilizers come with these weights which are also known as counterweights. In general, each weight weighs 100g and most come with four weights bringing your total weight to 400g.

Do steadicams come with a quick release plate?

This is an important feature, having the ability to ensure your DSLR camera is firmly attached is pretty important. A quick release plate makes it very convenient as well, if you suddenly need to take it off steadicam for a different angled shot.
