In recent years, inversion therapy has become more popular than ever. Whether you’re rehabbing from a serious back injury, relieving strain from pinched nerves, or adding more spice to your yoga program, you want the best inversion table you can get your hands on.
And that’s not just hyperbole. These tables literally hold you upside down by your ankles. Knowing that a cheap inversion table could potentially drop you on your head, do you really want anything less than the top-rated inversion table? Our number one criteria here is safety, safety, safety.
That’s not to say we’ll disregard your budget completely. In the course of our reviews, we’ll make sure to point out the best inversion table for the money.
In addition to quality and value, we’ll also be looking at comfort. After all, it doesn’t make much sense to use an uncomfortable piece of workout equipment, especially if your purpose is physical therapy.

The Teeter EP-970 is designed primarily for people who are using inversion tables as part of a physical therapy program. That’s not to say that you can’t use it for general well-being, but this table has more features than the average person is going to need.
To begin with, it features an adjustable lumbar support, which can be fine-tuned to provide as much or as little support as you desire. It also features 8 plastic acupressure nodes. These don’t dig into your body too much, since the plastic table is surprisingly soft and flexible.
Combine that with an easy-pivoting arm bar system, and you’ve got yourself a perfect machine for deep, intense therapy.

- 250-pound capacity

The Exerpeutic 225SL is a comfortable foam table that comes with a little something extra: a massage pillow. This is a wide, soft lumbar support with a corded remote for adjusting intensity and heat. Not only that, but you’ll also get the same comfortable, secure AIRSOFT ankle brackets we’ve already seen on the last Exerpeutic table.
The only thing we didn’t like about this table was the relatively low weight capacity. If your weight is pushing 250, consider a heavier-duty table.
One nice feature on the 225SL is the ratcheting locking mechanism. Unlike many other systems, which only have 6, 8, or 12 tension levels, this mechanism allows for almost unlimited variations in bracket pressure. Combined with the AIRSOFT brackets, this is a top-of-the-line system at a very reasonable price.
Pros
- Comfortable ankle brackets
- Heat and massage options for muscle relaxation
- Secure, ratcheting locking mechanism
- Great value
Cons
- Low weight capacity
This Exerpeutic inversion table is the best value on our list.

- Weighs 51 pounds
- Accommodates up to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- 3 stopping positions
- Wide steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
- Removable lumbar pillow
The Yoleo Gravity is a budget machine for people who need to buy an inversion table now. It’s not the best on our list, but it’s better than any in its price class, and the money you do pay goes where it matters: the ankle brackets and locking pins are all very secure and easy to use.
On the downside, this machine is difficult to assemble, with a lot of bolts just thrown into a bag and an IKEA-style cartoon assembly leaflet. While it’s a sturdy machine for the price, it’s not designed to collapse easily. You have to remove a couple of bolts in order to fold the machine up, which makes storage a pain in the neck.
That said, the table is reasonably comfortable and even includes a lumbar pillow.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Good lumbar support
- Inexpensive
Cons
- Difficult to assemble
- Inconvenient to collapse and store
This is the most budget-friendly inversion table we’ve looked at today.

The Teeter EP-560 is the second Teeter inversion tables review we’ve done today, and we’ve got to say, the thing that impresses us most about these tables is the soft, flexible backrest material. It’s a unique soft plastic that molds to your body while still providing plenty of support. It might look like something from an Alien movie, but we swear it’s comfortable.
This table is easy to pivot, with simple arm bars for controlling your orientation. It’s also one of the few tables on the market to feature a disc brake stopping mechanism, so you can perform your therapy at any angle you choose.
Pros
- Pivots easily
- Infinite positioning options
- Flexible backrest
- 5-year manufacturer’s warranty
Cons
- Hard-to-use ankle brackets
This mid-priced inversion table includes a 5-year warranty, which is a great value.

- Weighs 76 pounds
- Accommodates 4’9” to 6’6” users
- 350-pound capacity
- 4 stopping positions
- Steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
- Removable lumbar pillow
- Comfortable “AIRSOFT” ankle brackets
- Includes an equipment mat
The Ironman Gravity 4000 is an affordable inversion table with a foam surface and a fat, removable lumbar pillow. The thing we liked most about this table was the AIRSOFT ankle bracket system, which you don’t often see on anything other than an Exerpeutic.
This table also offers a beefy frame, with a 350-pound weight capacity. If you’re built more like a lineman than a quarterback, this table is a solid choice.
The downside? Once again, you’ll be dealing with some IKEA-type assembly instructions. Be prepared to watch a YouTube video or two to help you get through the process. That said, once it’s put together, this is a great table for the price.
Pros
- Comfortable ankle brackets
- Large weight capacity
- Good lumbar support
- Affordable
Cons
- Difficult to assemble
- Heavy
This is one of the only non Exerpeutic inversion tables on the market that utilizes AIRSOFT ankle brackets.

Key Features
- 61” x 27” footprint
- Weighs 67 pounds
- Accommodates 4’10” to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- 5 stopping positions
- Steel frame
- Heating and massaging lumbar pad
The Innova ITM5900 is the first table on our list that’s fully adjustable. What we mean is that you don’t just adjust the length of the ankle support. You also adjust the headrest, so you’re not dealing with adjustable legs and a one-size-fits-all neck and torso setup.
Another beautiful thing about this inversion table is the massage feature. There are 4 motors along the length of your spine, along with a wired remote to control intensity. The remote also controls the heat of the lumbar support, which can go a long way towards taking the edge off after a long day.
Be prepared to dedicate some space to the ITM5900, though; it’s not collapsible for storage.
Pros
- Sturdy construction
- Plenty of adjustment options
- Good lumbar support
- Heat and massage options for muscle relaxation
Cons
- Not collapsible for storage
The massage nodes on this inversion table cover the full length of your spine.
8. Innova ITM4800
Innova ITM4800
6 used from $127.21
Features
- Isolated heat and vibration therapeutic massage inversion with adjustable lumbar pad
- Assembled Product Dimensions: 46" L x 28 W" x 63" H
- Six (6) position Adjustable pin system with added Patent Pending Protective Cover for easy positioning and safer inverting over strap systems
- Adjustable headrest pad with large and comfortable padded backrest
- Accommodates users 4ft-10" to 6ft-6" with a 300 lbs. weight capacity
The Innova ITM4800 offers 6 stopping positions, more than most inversion tables.
Key Features
- 63” x 28” footprint
- Weighs 57 pounds
- Accommodates 4’10” to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- 6 stopping positions
- Steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
- Heating, massaging lumbar pad
The Innova ITM4800 is a heat and massage table that’s a little scaled back from the ITM5900. It still provides plenty of lumbar support, but that’s the only area you’ll get a massage. Not that we’re complaining; this inversion table is also significantly more affordable than its big brother.
The real disappointment here are the ankle brackets. You have to reach all the way down to tighten or loosen them, instead of using a simple control arm. They’re also made from steel with minimal padding, so make sure to wear comfortable, well-padded shows while you’re using this table.
The ITM4800 stops at 6 different positions, which gives you more options than most locking pin-style inversion tables.
Pros
- Several stopping positions
- Good lumbar support
- Heat and massage options for muscle relaxation
- Affordable
Cons
- Uncomfortable ankle brackets
- Hard-to-use ankle brackets
This is one of the most affordable massaging inversion tables around.

- Accommodates users 4ft-10in to 6ft-6in with a 300 lb Weight Capacity

- Weighs 52 pounds
- Accommodates 4’10” to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- 6 stopping positions
- Steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
The Innova ITX9600 is a great option if you want a safe inversion table at an affordable price. It’s a good choice if you’re experiencing dizziness with an existing table since it offers 6 different stopping positions. As a result, you’ll be able to start off shallower than you can with most tables and work your way back more gradually.
While the ankle brackets on this model are more comfortable than those on the last model – they’re made of foam instead of padded steel – they’re still difficult to operate. There’s also no lumbar support on this table.
The ITX 9600 is a utilitarian, no-frills machine at a reasonable price.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Several stopping positions
- Plenty of adjustment options
- Affordable
Cons
- Hard-to-use ankle brackets

10. Exerpeutic

- Weighs 55 pounds
- Accommodates 4’10” to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- Adjustable tether for positioning
- Steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
The Exerpeutic 5503 is one of the most comfortable budget tables around. The backrest looks Spartan, but it’s actually surprisingly spongy, with just enough support where you need it. Unfortunately, you need to remove the backrest entirely to collapse the table for storage, which makes it a bit of a headache to move.
The ankle brackets are also hard to use, with a short control rod that you need to bend down to use. Then again, you can pivot this table very easily, with a simple swing of your arms. You can also adjust it to any position, using a simple nylon tether that’s lower-tech – and more affordable – than a disc brake, but just as effective.
Pros
- Comfortable backrest
- Can be stopped in any position
- Easy to pivot
- Affordable
Cons
- Hard-to-use ankle brackets
- Difficult to collapse
The adjustable tether on this inversion table allows you to stop it in any position.

It’s also easy to pivot, with easy-to-use foam-padded pivot bars.
Like some other tables, though, the Invertio comes with an incomprehensible assembly guide that’s just a bunch of pictures with arrows. The frame is relatively lightweight and supports only 250 pounds, so heavier individuals will want to look elsewhere.
This table is easy to collapse and store when needed.

The HYD-Parts Inversion Table’s frame is constructed from big, fat tubes. You’d think it would be heavy, but it’s actually the lightest table we’ve reviewed. On the downside, this gives it a relatively low, 250-pound weight capacity. On the upside, it’s easy to fold up and store in a moment’s notice, so it’s a great choice if you live in an apartment or a house with a small living room.
The backrest on this table is constructed from memory foam. While it’s not the top-grade 3D memory foam we saw on the Harison, it’s still a comfortable, supportive surface. Considering how affordable this table is, we were pleasantly surprised.

This table also offers 6 stopping positions, which is a lot for a table with a locking pin-style pivot system. And taller users will be more comfortable, too, thanks to the adjustable headrest.
All in all, the ITX9800 is a great value, and worth considering both for safety and for adjustability.

The Teeter Contour L5 provides better lumbar support than any other table we’ve reviewed.
Key Features
- 64” x 29” footprint
- Weighs 75 pounds
- Accommodates 4’8” to 6’6” users
- 300-pound capacity
- 3 stopping positions
- Steel frame
- Collapsible for storage
- Removable, adjustable lumbar bridge and 8 acupressure nodes

The Teeter Contour L5 is their top-of-the-line acupressure table, and it’s similar to the EP-970 in many respects. This includes the soft plastic back and the acupressure nodes. However, there are a couple of upgrades that make this table worth the extra cost.
To begin with, the Contour L5’s lumbar bridge isn’t just adjustable, it’s also removable, so it fits even more back shapes and sizes. It also features Teeter’s One-Touch position adjustment systems, which allows you to go from one pin position to the next with a flick of your hand.
Pros
- Very comfortable
- Excellent lumbar support
- Pivots easily
- Conforms to the shape of your back
- 5-year manufacturer’s warranty
Cons
- Heavy
- Expensive
The Contour L5 is exceptionally comfortable, an ideal choice if you’re suffering from back pain.
Bottom Line
Inversion tables offer many benefits. They can relieve pressure on stressed discs, reducing back pain and inflammation. By reducing the flow of blood to your legs, they can also relieve arthritis, and other inflammation-related joint pain. Conversely, inversion therapy can improve upper body health by increasing blood flow to those areas of the body.
But there’s no reason to settle for just any table. Consider the quality of construction. Think about whether or not the footprint is a good fit for your space. And as always, make sure you’re satisfied that the machine is safe enough that you’re comfortable using it.
Finally, get yourself a comfortable, well-padded table if you can afford one. The better you feel while you’re using your table, the more you’ll actually use it.
We hope our inversion table reviews help you find the best possible equipment for your needs. At the very least, we hope you learned more, and have become a more educated consumer as a result.
